PIWAKAWAKA PROGRAMME

Location: Ray Wright Road, Pukekohe

When: Wednesdays

Age Group: 4-12 years old

This programme is led by our experienced teacher Claire and is based on a private farm in Pukekohe. This programme is aimed for a smaller group with a 1:8 adult-to-child ratio and a maximum of 16 children.

We are based inside a beautiful native bush with a fun nature playground and small stream where 2 friendly eels live. The ngāhere (forest) provides many opportunities where children can explore freely – the environment enables them to foster their curiosity and supports their development.

In the winter we can be found cooking our kai (food) on the campfire and warming up after we have explored the stream or have gotten muddy.

This is the perfect programme for children who thrive in play-based learning environments.

Many children lack social skills and the ability to solve problems simply due to the lack of ‘play’. Research shows that unstructured play not only provides many learning opportunities, but it also reduces anxiety and supports children with sensory needs.

Drop-off time: 8:45 am – 9:00 am
