KOTARE PROGRAMME
(COMING SOON!)

Location: Onekiritea Park (Bomb Point), Hobsonville Point

When: Fridays

Age Group: 4-10 years old

Our new Kōtare programme is based at Te Onekiritea (Bomb Point Park), offering a unique outdoor experience for children aged 4 to 10 years old.

This 1-day programme runs every Friday of the school term.

Led by our amazing ECE-trained teacher, Kelly, who has over 20 years of teaching experience and lives on the North Shore, this programme provides tamariki with an enriching nature-based learning environment.

Our daily adventures may include:

- Shelter building & whittling

- Exploring flora and fauna

- Self-directed nature play & exploratory walks

- Encounters with streams and the beach

- Essential life skills like tool use and cooking

- Conservation work

We are excited to explore the rich natural and historical significance of Te Onekiritea. This land has deep Māori and community ties, and through storytelling and hands-on experiences, tamariki will develop a deeper connection to the land and its history.

At the heart of our approach is the Tuakana-Teina relationship, where older children serve as mentors and leaders, fostering a sense of community and cooperation. Our child-led learning environment, complemented by planned activities based on the children’s interests, ensures a holistic developmental experience.

We maintain small group sizes with a maximum of 18 tamariki and a 1:6 educator ratio, ensuring a safe and engaging environment.

Our philosophy is "less is more." We take out minimal gear, encouraging tamariki to engage in open-ended play and discovery, fostering creativity, resilience, and problem-solving skills in a natural setting.

Fees: Term fees can be paid weekly or fortnightly, with the first payment due before the first day of the programme.

We can't wait to welcome your tamariki to this exciting new adventure at Te Onekiritea!
